Catholic Church

The Church of 'Our Lady and Saint John' was built in 1956 to replace the earlier church on 'Church Hill' on the southside of the town. Local parishinors contributed greatly to the edifice building costs and one story tells how locals gave up personal jewellery to be smelted into the mold for the tabernacle. Masses are held on Saturday evenings and hourly on Sunday morning.
