Crosshaven Walk

In 1996 two local men Bill Condon and Eddie Cogan had a vision to re-establish the old Carrigaline to Crosshaven railway line -not for trains but as a riverside walkway amenity for the public. Joined by the services of Cork County Council, the walk was surfaced, completed and offically opened in 2000. Along the walk are picnic areas, seating, railway memorabilia and wildlife viewing points. The 5 mile walk follows the saltwater course of the Owenbue Estuary as it careers towards Crosshaven and on to Cork Harbour. It has proven to be a valuable local resource availed of daily by many people.
