Owenabue River

Carrigaline is built on the banks of the Owenabue River. "Owenabue' is an anglicisation of the words 'Abhainn Bui' meaning 'Yellow River'. Immortalised in the famous ballad 'Carraigdonn' this river which runs from freshwater stream to major saltwater estuary is described here in all its aspects:
" And many a stream comes rushing down,
To swell the angry Owenabue,
... The dark green trees bent trembling down,
To kiss the slumb'ring Owenabue"
